San Luis Obispo Department of Airports is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all visitors. Our goal is to comply with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act by meeting or exceeding WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We aim to provide an inclusive digital experience across our website and digital assets, making our content accessible to individuals of all abilities.

Conformance Status

The SLO County Airports website (SloAirport.com and OceanoAirport.com) conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Certain pre-existing documents—including historical reports, archived press releases, and statistical PDFs created before April 24, 2026 that are not actively used in a current process—may not yet fully conform. These documents qualify for the Title II pre-existing content exception and are not under active remediation. If you need accessible access to any of these materials, we will provide an alternative format upon request.

Scope of Accessibility Compliance

This statement applies to all digital properties managed by SLO County Department of Airports, including:

  • Official Websites: SloAirport.com and OceanoAirport.com (WordPress platform, Elementor Pro page builder, and Formidable Forms)
  • In-Terminal Displays and Systems: Flight information displays (Aerocloud and OAG), visual paging, public Wi-Fi landing pages, and other information displays
  • Online Services: Landing fee payment system (Vector PlanePass), badging appointment scheduling and training (AirBadge), and Veoci for online workflows
  • Social Media and Email Channels: Accessible emails and posts on Facebook, X, and Instagram

Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is designed to be compatible with assistive technologies including screen readers, voice recognition software, keyboard navigation, and magnification tools. We regularly test compatibility with popular assistive technologies and work to resolve any identified barriers.

Ongoing Audits and Accessibility Enhancements

The airport conducts quarterly accessibility audits on our digital assets using automated tools (Monsido) and manual checks by certified accessibility consultants. During our compliance implementation period leading to full DOJ compliance by April 2026, we are prioritizing high-traffic areas and critical user functions, with remediation occurring in phases based on user impact and accessibility barriers.

Our current focus areas include:

  • Navigation Consistency: Confirming ease of use and intuitive navigation across all platforms
  • Contrast and Readability: Achieving WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios for text and interactive elements
  • Text Alternatives: Providing descriptive alt text for meaningful images
  • Accessible Forms and Interactive Elements: Ensuring keyboard navigability and error handling for forms, including Formidable Forms integration
  • Multimedia Accessibility: Providing captions and transcripts for audio and video content

Third-Party Content and Vendor Compliance

We actively monitor and collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with accessibility standards. When third-party content presents accessibility barriers, we will provide alternative access methods or direct assistance within five business days of notification. While we strive to achieve compliance across all areas of our digital presence, some third-party content may follow independent remediation timelines.

Additionally, our site may contain links to external websites outside of our control. If you encounter accessibility issues with third-party content, please let us know, and we will assist wherever possible.

Feedback Mechanism and Assistance

Accessibility Statement and Legal Compliance Updates

This Accessibility Statement is reviewed annually by our legal team to ensure alignment with evolving accessibility standards, including any updates to WCAG, ADA guidelines, or Department of Justice requirements. Quarterly accessibility scans and remediation will be conducted to proactively address any newly identified compliance gaps.

Interim Accessibility Support

We acknowledge that certain existing content may not fully meet current accessibility standards during our compliance implementation period. Actively used content is under review, and our team is working systematically to bring it into compliance by the April 2026 deadline. Pre-existing documents not used in a current process—such as archived press releases, historical reports, and legacy statistical PDFs created before April 24, 2026—are covered under the Title II pre-existing content exception and are not scheduled for remediation. We are committed to providing alternative access methods or direct assistance for any content upon request, and we will continue to update this statement as progress is made.
