Parking FAQs
Where can I find accessible (ADA) parking?
Accessible parking spaces are available in lot 4, near the accessible ramp. Only vehicles that display a Disability Parking Placard or Disability License Plate issued by the State may use these spaces. If no accessible spaces are available, you may park in any available space and still pay the $13 disabled daily rate. Vehicles parked in accessible spots without displaying the proper requirements will be cited and towed at the owner’s expense. The disabled daily parking fee is $13 with a valid ADA plate or placard and is required for all ADA parking including parking in ADA spaces.
If you need your placard on your trip, the airport allows you to make a copy of your placard and place it on your dashboard.
Can I extend my parking session by using my phone?
If the user pays by text or by App you will get a reminder 15 minutes prior to your session ending. The user will receive a text notification with the availability to extend at that time. Additionally, if the user starts the session at the kiosk and enters their phone number, they will get a reminder 15 minutes prior to their session ending with a text link to extend.
Is there a cell phone waiting lot?
No. Though Lot 5 temporarily served as a cell phone waiting lot, it is no longer open for public use. If you are waiting to pick up a traveler, feel free to wait in the Loading Zone in front of the terminal. Make sure to stay with your vehicle at all times, otherwise you will risk being cited or towed.
Does the Airport offer annual parking permits?
The Airport is no longer offering annual parking permits.
What if I am issued a citation?
Parking citations issued for exceeding your purchased days of parking can be avoided by utilizing Pay by Text, the Parking App, or entering your phone number if purchasing a permit at a parking kiosk. All three options allow you to extend your parking session remotely before it expires and a citation is issued. Information regarding payment of citations can be located on the citation itself, though Airport Administration is happy to answer questions if you contact us at 805-781-4323.
What if I need a parking refund?
Parking refunds are only issued for machine error, or flight delays or cancellations. They must be requested within 72 hours of the original purchase with a proof-of-purchase receipt. Refund requests for the unused portion of paid parking must be accompanied by airline documentation. Cash refunds are issued by the County of San Luis Obispo and require a signed Payment Request form.
Do I need to display my receipt/permit on my dashboard?
You no longer need to display a kiosk receipt/permit on your dashboard. Our new pay-by-plate system registers your open parking session based on the license plate number entered. Parking kiosks no longer issue paper receipts. You can receive a receipt via text message by inputting your phone number at the kiosk or using the convenient text-to-park payment option. If you choose to pay via the Flowbird app, the application stores your receipt and can be sent to you via email.
