SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — Normal flight operations have resumed at the SLO County Airport (SBP) following a brief ground stop earlier this morning.
The disruption was caused by a complete power and communications outage at the Santa Barbara Air Traffic Control Tower and Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON), which manages airspace throughout the Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and San Luis Obispo regions. The Federal Aviation Administration has since confirmed that Los Angeles Center has assumed responsibility for the affected airspace, allowing arrivals and departures at SBP to proceed as normal.
“We’re grateful for the quick coordination by our partners at the FAA to restore service,” said Courtney Johnson, Director of Airports. “While this morning’s delay was beyond our control, we’re committed to keeping our passengers informed and are pleased to welcome travelers back to SBP.”
Passengers are still encouraged to check with their airline for the most current flight information.
