SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – The SLO County Airport (SBP) is proud to announce that it has been awarded Airport Carbon Accreditation Level 2, a prestigious recognition of the airport’s commitment to environmental sustainability and carbon emissions reduction.
Airport Carbon Accreditation, an internationally recognized program, assesses and recognizes airports’ efforts to manage and reduce their carbon footprint. Level 2 accreditation signifies that the airport has implemented effective carbon management strategies and demonstrated significant progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Achieving Level 2 accreditation is a result of the airport’s comprehensive sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency improvements, and waste reduction efforts. Looking ahead, SBP will be continuing to focus our environmental impacts and implementing new processes to influence recycling and waste reduction. and collaboration with stakeholders to promote sustainable practices. In the United States, there are 75 airports that have received the ACA recognition and five of those airports, including SBP, are in California.
