The Future of Runway 7-25
The Future of Runway 7-25
As the Airport moves forward, the issue of future development for General Aviation has become a topic of discussion. The Master Plan identifies areas on the West side of the airport for future hangars and aircraft parking areas. Specifically the area in and around runway 7-25 has been discussed as the area with the highest likelihood of being developed next.
The question being posed by both Airport Management and tenants alike is how should this area be developed? The Master Plan envisions the runway being extended to its original length of 3000 feet with hangars and taxiways between and parallel to Buckley Road. In addition, another alternative in the Master Plan identifies the runway to be closed and the entire area developed for storage hangars, commercial hangars and an increased parking ramp.
Airport Management is not taking a position on either of the above options other than we continue to follow the Master Plan Concept. We feel it is prudent to involve airport tenants and users to get their feedback on how best to proceed with any development that will benefit the General Aviation community.
Below are two links to pdf files showing the Master Plan Concept as well as the alternative showing the closure of Runway 7-25. A new email address has been established for comments from our tenants as users. We would like to hear from you. Please let us know what option you believe is the best for General Aviation and why.
